What an incredible finale in Manila! In a nerve-wracking showdown, the German national team narrowly defeated Serbia 83:77 and secured the coveted world championship title for the first time in history.
Amid the excitement and joy of this historic achievement, it is worth taking a look at the significance of this triumph. Germany has joined the illustrious circle of FIBA World Champions, which is undoubtedly an extraordinary achievement. Since 1950, only six other nations have achieved this honor, including even former greats such as Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union, which now exist only as memories.
We have made the numbers of this very special game visible. All moments from the final against Serbia translated into design and captured on print.
Together with the DBB we have released the World Champion Edition and are pleased to give fans the opportunity to take this very special game home with them.
Another reason to celebrate is our own basketball legend Dennis Schröder, the German captain and Most Valuable Player of this exciting tournament. His outstanding performance and tireless commitment contributed significantly to our team's victory and further inspired our hope and enthusiasm for German basketball.
While we rejoice in our triumph, we also want to recognize that the United States still holds the record of five World Cup titles. With their iconic NBA and legendary players, they have undoubtedly shaped the face of modern basketball. Nevertheless, it has become clear that European basketball is steadily gaining strength and is becoming serious competition for the US teams.
We are proud of what our team has achieved and look forward to continuing to follow the rise and development of German basketball.
